Not at family home for the 1871 census aged 14 but his daughter Lilly says he joined the army at age 15 so that remains an area for future research.

London Greenwich 1889 aged 32

Blencowe was spelled as Blencoe in 1901 census for Thomas W, 23 Clarence Rd Rotherhithe (now Canon Beck Road) & moved from Greenwich to Rotherhithe about 1894-5

Thomas William 1857 my GGF was gone from the family home by 1871 aged 14 and Iím not sure where he went until he turned up in 12 King George St, Greenwich, his father in law's home where Lilly Mary (Green) was born in 1889 and he married Maria Hannah Green in 1892.  He became an engineer fitter in the gas works.

The area of Rotherhithe close to the Surrey Docks was considered one of the poorest areas of London.  The gas works is now demolished but the superstructure remains about 150m from where he lived, also demolished.

Tower Bridge Photographic Co., Union Road, Rotherhithe. According to "Who do you think you are", Arnold Louis Jarchy had five studios and was the grandfather of David Suchet (Hercule Poirot)

Three of Thomas and Maria's children from left, Dick, John and Tom.

My father Stan,  met up with Jim's son, Len in 2009 and he related that his father left home at an early age and never spoke much of it as did my grandfather and there was a family story that Thomas William senior may have been hard on his children.
